Nestled at the foot of the mountain in The Basin, this cafe offers a calm spot to enjoy a well-crafted coffee or a relaxed brunch. The atmosphere here is cosy yet casual, with a mix of locals and visitors who appreciate good food without fuss. It’s the kind of place where regulars are greeted by name and new faces are welcomed with genuine warmth.
People often come for thoughtfully prepared dishes like toasted focaccias and wraps served with fresh salad, including options like grilled chicken or falafel roti. Light bites such as the salmon bagel and simple, hearty sandwiches like the BLAT (yes, with avocado) make for easy, satisfying meals. There’s attention to detail across the board—from cappuccinos pulled just right to a vanilla slice that is light and not overly sweet. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon pause with tea or dessert, the menu balances indulgence and healthy choices, catering well to vegan and vegetarian preferences.
The space welcomes a diverse crowd: solo diners working on their laptops, groups catching up in one of the outdoor seating areas, families with children, and anyone looking for a casual place to linger a little longer. Accessibility is clearly a priority here, with wheelchair-friendly parking, entrances, seating, and facilities. Free street and lot parking also make coming here an easy choice when exploring the neighborhood.
Overall, it’s a friendly local spot where the pace feels unhurried but attentive—whether you’re stopping in for takeaway or settling in with a table service breakfast. It’s a place that fits quietly into the rhythm of the community, offering a bit of comfort and familiar flavours on a day out in this leafy part of the Dandenong Ranges.

4 Absolutely loved this place. This cafe was a random pick by my husband. Food was 9/10, avocado smash was a little sour in taste, aside from that, I loved every bit of it.
5 SUPERB! Fantastic jumbo grilled chicken toastie - arguably the biggest one we have been served. This is one to share and so yummy. What can top this... wait... OMG the vanilla slice here is devine - light and fluffy. Just keep driving past Olinda and stop at the bottom of the mountain. You will be glad you did.
5 I just found out the BLT I always get is actually a BLAT! With avocado. They're really tasty, not too heavy, not too light, the bread is just right. I'm a poet and don't I know it.... but a bad photographer coz I ate the subject.
5 Finally found a place to call our local. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The cafe had a really great vibe. We ordered our breakfast and coffee and within 2 minutes the coffees arrived at our table. We noticed a lot of regulars coming in and the staff all knew them and their orders. The food was really good, just the right amount. Can’t wait to come back again.

5 Stopped by for lunch with mum and we were both amazed how awesome the food was and really good portion sizes for the price! I will be back!
